A Story of Belief and Transformation

Tanya Johnston’s experience with The Mastery Program is a profound example of how belief and dedication can transform an artist's career. Listening to mentors Elli and Dimitra over the year instilled in her the confidence to face her fears and blossom in her art career. Participating in workshops, conferences, and having a dedicated mentor were crucial elements of her journey. The sense of community and the understanding of the work ethic required to prosper as an artist were pivotal. Discovering how to delve into themes of personal interest and adopting briefs designed by others to express with her unique voice were among the most transformative aspects for her.
Notable Successes

Tanya's notable achievements include being featured in season 3 of "The Outstanding Artist," being accepted into the Milan Online Gallery, winning cash prizes in Milan Art Club contests, and being accepted by Jiggy, a puzzle company showcasing female artists. Following her mentor John’s advice, she started doing tent shows and sold her first painting in the "Beauty Reigns" group show in Miami. She has been accepted into five juried tent shows, winning First Place in the first Mastery Program Graduate contest and having her teachers, the Milans and the Dunns, as collectors.

Application of Skills

Tanya has applied skills from mindset and entrepreneurial thinking to incorporating oils with mixed media. She learned to confidently present herself as a professional artist.

Building a Professional Network

The program helped Tanya build a robust professional network through community engagement with fellow students, coaches, and the Milans. She participated in workshops, conferences, art retreats, and even joined "The Outstanding Artist" with zero notice, driven by her admiration for the community's vision and values.

Overcoming Challenges

Tanya faced challenges like rejection and the need to fine-tune her approach. The confidence gained from learning under successful artists helped her persevere. Elli’s advice on persistence and knocking on doors until opportunities open has been particularly influential.

Program Expectations

The Milan Art program exceeded Tanya’s expectations by providing a transformative, life-changing experience. It gifted her belief, skills, and a clear path to achieve her art dreams. Though the work must be done by the artist, the program offers a comprehensive blueprint and ethos for building a successful career.

Tanya's advice for Mastery Program students
“Do all the assignments without substituting. Submit yourself to the program without trying to bend it to your sensibilities. If you need more time, take it without self-shame or despair but work constantly and consistently towards your goal. Let the lessons of transformation continue to guide you. Your voice will strengthen with each painting you create.”
